Contingent allocation of the agri-food budget: comparison of farmer and non-farmer preferences

Agricultural production faces diverse and often conflicting expectations, such as considerations related to environmental protection, food security risk management, well strengthening the profitability competitiveness of domestic production. In this study, we applied contingent allocation method a national agricultural budget analyse preferences farmers other citizens for allocating funds. Survey data collected from 2014 518 were used in compositional analysis where it is considered that each spending decision bears an opportunity cost, maker trade-offs across priorities. The allocations non-farmers found differ considerably. Farmers emphasized income economic resilience farms self-sufficiency soil conditions. Non-farmers public goods. form respondent clusters. first cluster emphasised multiple objectives policy, whereas second was clearly oriented third environmentally oriented. results highlight differences between challenging planning legitimate policy.
